Meet Darrien G. Held

Darrien is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate). She received her Bachelor of Science in both Criminal Justice and Psychology at York College in 2017. After feeling a strong pull towards helping others in the form of therapy she received her Masters of Art degree in counseling from Abilene Christian University  in 2019. It was there that she found her passion working with adults who may be suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and substance abuse.

Prior to working at Arise Recovery Centers, Darrien has had experience working in inpatient settings, rehabilitation centers, TMS centers, and crisis care. Darrien’s techniques are rooted in CBT skills, but thinks overall the most important thing is creating a personalized treatment plan together the fits the needs of the client. She believes that as humans we are prone to having struggles in life and many times we just need a helping hand to guide us through it. Darrien reflects on Viktor Frankl’s quote : “Between stimulus and response there is space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom”  as a basis for the therapy process.
