Meet Andy Merritt
Dallas Afternoon/Pilot Program Therapist
Andrew’s commitment is evident in his academic pursuits. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and his Master of Social Work from UT Arlington. He is an LMSW and is working on becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He is also enrolled in the Doctorate of Social Work program at the University of Kentucky, all to ‘get better at what I do.’ Starting as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Andrew brings his passion for recovery into all his professional work.
Andrew gets great joy from watching the clients succeed. With experience in both residential and outpatient programming, including roles at the Salvation Army and Adult Community Supervision (probation), he has worked with civilian and military drug court clients and officials. Over the past twenty years, he has supported individuals from early recovery to long-term sobriety. Andrew meets individuals where they are, wherever they are, and guides them through the challenges of overcoming addiction. He uses CBT and DBT techniques and twelve-step principles to support his clients’ long-term success.
