Meet Serra Ramey
Therapist, LPC-Intern Supervised by Steve Tryling, LPC-S
Serra graduated from The University of North Texas with a Bachelors in Applied Behavior Analysis. Following graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue a career with the University of Colorado – Denver, Substance Abuse and Recovery Department, doing research based assessments, community outreach, and risk reduction work for over three years before being accepted by their Masters Counseling program. Serra focused on multicultural diversity and addictions work in the program and moved yet again returning to Texas and graduating with her Masters from The University of North Texas. Serra focuses on person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy including its effectiveness with various addictions, trauma, concurring mental health struggles, and is a Certified Animal Assisted Therapist through Pet Partners. She continues to pursue education and expand her knowledge base in order to serve a wider range of clients. Serra brings a sense of comfort and understanding to the families and clients facing addiction and working a recovery program by utilizing her personal and professional experiences.
Serra worked in a large residential inpatient facility as well as a sober living and outpatient facility which assisted those with dual diagnoses of mental health and addiction in roles from Mental Health Technician to Intake and Admissions to Case Manager over the course of nearly four years. When she heard Danny Andino’s story, she was inspired by the passion and commitment exhibited by the driven team at Arise Recovery Centers. Serra was instantly moved to reach out and determine how her experience, empathy, and enthusiasm could assist those who are seeking healing through recovery. Serra joined ARISE and brought with her knowledge and passion for assisting clients to find empowerment and authenticity while overcoming barriers to recovery and self-discovery.
