Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is one-on-one therapy with a licensed clinician — a private space to work through what you’re facing and build a personalized plan. At Arise Recovery Centers, individual counseling is built into every outpatient program (PHP, IOP, and SOP) as a weekly one-on-one session, and we also offer it as a standalone service — for both people in addiction recovery and those seeking counseling for mental-health concerns with no substance use issue involved.

What is individual counseling?
Individual counseling (also called one-on-one therapy) is a private session between you and a licensed clinician. Unlike group therapy, the entire session is focused on you — your story, your triggers, and the goals you’re working toward. It’s where the personalized work of recovery happens, and it complements the shared support you get in group settings.
How it fits into your treatment
At Arise, individual counseling is built into all of our outpatient programs alongside group therapy and education. Across our partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and supportive outpatient (SOP) programs, you meet one-on-one with a master’s-level clinician for a weekly individual session. Your therapist helps connect what you learn in group to your own life and adjusts your plan as you progress — whether you’re in person or in our virtual program.
Standalone individual counseling — for everyone
You don’t have to be enrolled in a full program to work with us one-on-one. We offer individual counseling as a standalone service for two groups:
- People in addiction recovery — ongoing one-on-one support, or step-down care after completing a program.
- People without a substance use concern — anyone seeking counseling for mental-health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, or relationship challenges. No substance use issue is required.
It’s a flexible option for whatever you’re working through, with the same licensed, master’s-level clinicians who support our programs.
