Meet Katie Avalos
Therapist & Group Facilitator
Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern (under the supervision of Candy Marcum, LPC-Supervisor) who has worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and in outpatient settings supporting those seeking substance abuse treatment. During that time, she has implemented evidenced-based best practice of treating trauma and addiction. She has developed a special interest in addressing family systems, adjustments to stressful life events, relationship issues, and co-occurring anxiety, depression, PTSD, and oppositional-defiant disorders. Katie is most gratified and inspired in her work when clients who are seeking healing and personal growth achieve their goals and find new, healthy identities and meaning in their lives. For Katie, it is a privilege to be a part of their journey.
Katie received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Family Studies at Abilene Christian University and Masters of Science in Counseling at Southern Methodist University. On any given weekend, you will find her enjoying church, travel, cooking and time with her friends and family, especially her husband, Efren, and her young nieces and nephew.
